Carson City Wild Horse Children’s Theater holding auditions for Disney’s ‘Aristocats, Kids’

Wild Horse Children’s Theater is looking for actors, singers and dancers, ages 5 to 14, for its March production of Disney’s “The Aristocats, Kids.”

Auditions will be by appointment from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 7 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 9 in the Brewery Arts center’s Performance Hall 511 W. King St.

The story follows Madame’s jealous butler, Edgar, who cat-naps Duchess and her Aristokittens and abandons them in the Parisian countryside. Thomas O’Malley and his rag-tag bunch of Alley Cats come to their rescue. Those auditioning are asked to bring a recent photo and a one-minute-or-less song with accompaniment music on CD or media device that showcases their vocal ability. No background vocals. Auditioners also will be taught a dance, so they are asked to wear comfortable clothes and shoes and plan to arrive promptly to fill out forms.

Performances are weekends March 11-20. Rehearsals will be from 4:15 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. Not everyone will be required to be at every rehearsal. Auditioners will be asked to list any rehearsal conflicts.

To schedule an audition or for more information, call 775-887-0438, or email pat@wildhorsetheater.com. For cast information, go to http://www.wildhorsetheater.com.

Robin Kato-Brong and Carol Scott are presenting a private audition coaching class to help actors prepare to audition confidently. The class offers two half-hour sessions that will focus on selecting and performing a song for auditions, basic dance steps for auditions, and audition tips. Students can bring their own songs on CD, or they can use songs available at the class.

The classes will be held in half-hour intervals from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 28 and 29 and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 4 and 5 in the Performance Hall. Space is limited; parents are invited to attend.

The cost is $50 per student. To register or for more information, contact Kato-Brong at 775-720-3634 or katobirdie@yahoo.com.
