Jason Woodbury

Mark Krueger

Residence: Carson City

Occupation: Assistant District Attorney

Age: 45

Record of service: I am currently honored to be the Assistant District Attorney for the Carson City District Attorney’s Office. I am the Chief of Staff and lead a team of 21 employees in prosecuting crimes and representing Carson City and its departments. I supervise the criminal and civil divisions and manage a 2.1 million dollar budget. Prior to joining the Carson City District Attorney’s office in September 2012, I worked as the Assistant District Attorney for the Lyon County District Attorney’s Office for six years. In Lyon County, I was the Chief of Staff, supervisor, manager of the DA’s budget and Chief legal counsel to Lyon County and its departments. Prior to joining the Lyon County District Attorney’s Office, I enjoyed being a Senior Deputy Attorney General with the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, where I represented numerous state agencies and handled civil litigation on behalf of the State of Nevada. My primary focus was handling complex banking, financial and mortgage regulation and protecting citizens from mortgage fraud.

Education: I came to Carson City, Nevada in June, 1999, after earning a Juris Doctorate degree from California Western School of Law, San Diego, California, in December 1998. Prior to attending law school, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Wisconsin in May, 1994.

Honors: I have been a guest speaker, educator, and mentor, regarding various topics to help fight crime and protect the community. The locations I have lectured at include the Western Nevada College, the Washoe County Library, various law enforcement agencies, and various schools throughout Nevada. I have taught Police Officers Standards and Training on several occasions and will continue to do so. Recently I have been asked to speak at the Washoe County CAN conference during the first week of December. This will be a multidisciplinary conference on Child Maltreatment: Investigation through Prosecution, and Child Protective Enforcement Team (C.P.E.T).

Platform: Mark is a LEADER —

Loyal to my oath of office and the people of Carson City without compromise by special interest. I am committed to protecting the community and creating a team of exceptional prosecutors while preserving resources.

Experienced in criminal cases, civil litigation, managing people and promoting an innovative office while saving taxpayer money. As your Assistant DA, I have handled thousands of cases and have prosecuted over 38 jury trials.

Aware and will bring community awareness and education to prevent crime and promote public safety, such as the Business Protection and the S.A.V.E. (Stop Abuse of the Vulnerable and Elderly) Programs.

Determined and passionate about victims’ rights and will use Victim Services to help comfort victims of violent crimes and ensure that victims and our community are fully supported.

Enthusiastic about the future of the DA’s office and bringing innovative programs, such as the use of therapy dogs to alleviate the stress and fear that victims often experience.

Resolved to being tough on crime and protecting the community. The people of Carson City need a District Attorney on the side of victims. That’s me. My opponent is actively supported by criminal defense attorneys. I would appreciate your vote.

Platform: There is room for improvement in the District Attorney’s office. The office has 21 employees. Since 2007, over 40 have left. Some turnover is expected — even healthy. But this alarming rate means something is wrong. It affects work quality and results in higher costs to taxpayers. The solution requires more than a tweak from current management. It’s going to take a culture change. The staff needs a leader in the District Attorney’s office. I have experience in both the criminal and civil divisions of our District Attorney’s office. But Carson City needs more. We need someone who will improve relationships with courts and law enforcement; someone who has successfully practiced privately for more than 10 years; made a payroll; controlled a budget; and managed personnel with respect. This city needs a leader in the District Attorney’s office. My wife Stacy and I are raising our family here. What my family wants from the District Attorney’s office is the same thing your family wants: protection. Protection from crime, protection of our freedom and protection of our way of life. Our families need a leader in the District Attorney’s office. I am that leader. I would appreciate your vote. Thank you.
