PV2 Christopher H. McClung graduated from Basic/AIT Military Police Training on Dec. 18 at Fort Leonard Wood, Miss.

At the completion of his 19 weeks of training, McClung was awarded the Army Achievement Medal and inducted into the 14th Military Police Brigade Warrior Hall of Fame. His demonstrated excellence in marksmanship, physical fitness, and warrior tasks and battle drills set the standard for others to emulate.

He was also named honor graduate and awarded the Certificate of Achievement for distinguishing himself as the most outstanding Soldier of Cycle 22-09, Company D, 795th Military Police Battalion, 14th Military Police Brigade.

His leadership ability, physical fitness, warrior spirit and overall knowledge of military subjects are commended as uniquely outstanding. His exemplary performance in all phases of training reflects distinct credit upon him, Fort Leonard Wood and the United States Army.

McClung is the son of Vietnam veteran Steve McClung and Joan McClung of Carson City. He is the brother of Sarah and Joel Bates of Livermore, Calif., grandson of Alice McClung of Dayton and nephew of Sherry and Richard Lusty of Dayton and Chris and Susan McClung of Kingman, Ariz.

PV2 McClung is a 2005 graduate of Carson High School. He will be assigned to the 485th MP Company stationed in Stead and attend University of Nevada, Reno to pursue a degree and a commission as an officer in the Nevada National Guard.

Air Force Airman Matthew H. Duvalle graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Duvalle is the son of Ruth and Howard Duvalle of Shenandoah Drive in Carson City.

Duvalle earned a bachelor’s degree in 2008 from the University of West Florida, Pensacola.

Army Pvt. Julia M. Asire has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

She is the daughter of John Asire of N. Division St., Carson City.

The private is a 2009 graduate of Carson High School, Carson City.
