Nevada Humane Society holding cat adoption event
Priceless is the best way to describe the love of a cat, don’t you agree? From spotted cats to striped cats, short cats to long cats, black cats to white cats, Nevada Humane Society is putting the spotlight on all cats over the age of three, waiving their adoption fees to help them find good, loving homes. Standard adoption policies still apply.
“Cats can be a best friend to anyone. They offer love and affection when you need it or independence if you don’t. They bring warmth and comfort to the home, and more often than not they can fend for themselves!” said Kimberly Wade, Senior Manager of Communications and Events for Nevada Humane Society. “Cats are a great companion for any age, any family, and any person. Our hope it that more people will consider adopting a cat over the age of three because while the kittens are getting homes quickly, the cats are tending to reside here a bit longer.”
Studies show that even when fees are waived, the adopter doesn’t value the animal any less. In addition, Nevada Humane Society sees a smaller return rate for cats that are adopted for free and the families that adopt are just as able to provide care for the cat.
Adoption fees on all cats over the age of three are waived at both the Reno and Carson City shelter. Other adult cats are $25, kittens are $60 and adult dogs are $50. All cats and dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Rabbits are also available for adoption for $35, and are also spayed or neutered.
Nevada Humane Society is open daily, from 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. except for Saturdays in which it opens an hour earlier at 10 a.m.. For adoption in Reno, visit 2825 Longley Lane. For adoptions in Carson City, visit 3770 Butti Way.
