Farmers market today

State’s birthday topic of CAMPN meeting

Scott Carey, events and communications manager with NV150, will provide an overview of Nevada’s year-long 150th birthday celebration at Carson Area Marketing & PR Network’s meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 4 at the Business Resource Innovation Center, 108 E. Proctor St.

CAMPN is an association of professional marketers, marketing communicators and public relations executives who gather monthly to network and share marketing and public relations resources, ideas and tips. Fundraiser set for Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch

The nonprofit Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch will host its annual Founders Roundup fundraiser, which features art, music, chautauqua and a barbecue dinner, from 4 to 8 p.m. June 7 at the Corley Ranch.

The event will feature the work of local wildlife photographer John Humphrey, as well as the artists of gadZooks! in Gardnerville. Their work will be displayed and available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Friends of Dangberg. Dr. Doris Dwyer of Western Nevada College will portray pioneer Sarah Royce. Music will be provided by local trio Momoka before and after the barbecue dinner. A no-host bar will feature wine and beer selections by Battle Born Wine, and The Entertainer will provide décor.

Tickets are available until Saturday and cost $30 each. They can be purchased at http://www.foundersroundup2014.eventbrite.com. A portion of the ticket cost may be tax-deductible.

The Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch is a nonprofit that manages the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden. It’s entering its fourth year of operations and has more than 300 contributing members. For more information, call 775-783-9417.

Golf tournament benefits area schools

The Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors will be hosting the Alyce McCracken Scramble for Scholarships golf tournament on June 27 at Eagle Valley Golf Course. Tee time is at 1 p.m., with check-in time at 11 a.m. A barbecue will follow at 5 p.m.

The annual tournament honors Alyce McCracken, a realtor and resident of Northern Nevada who had a passion for continuing education and training. Proceeds from the tournament benefit local high schools in Carson, Douglas and Churchill counties and parts of Lyon County.

The tournament is open to everyone and the entry fee is $75 per person. Raffle tickets will be sold for several prizes including a golf bag, an I-Pad Mini and more.

Art show & sale planned in Minden

Carson Valley Art Association’s Carson Valley Days art show and sale, to feature landscapes, wildlife, floral and abstract work by local artists, will be June 13-15 at the CVIC Hall on Esmeralda Ave. in Minden.

An artists’ reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 13.
