The business: Customers can race remote-controlled cars around a close track. “It’s kind of cheap clean fun,” Shallow said.

How he got interested: He raced slotcars as a child and that got is started again as adult.

Customers’ reaction: After the store opened April 1, he’s seen a lot of fathers bringing in their sons and grandfathers bringing in their grandsons to enjoy it. There’s a lot of hand-eye coordination involved, he said, but “it’s not quite like a video game.”

The set up: Four-inch cars racing on 85 foot-long track

Price: $6-8 for a half hour and $8-12 for an hour
