Tim Rubald, executive director of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development, has been elected to the Council for Community and Economic Research (ACCRA) 16-member national board of directors. ACCRA supplies its members with professional networks, training, advocacy, and research, while delivering products and services in economic research.

‘Super heroes’ play golf to establish scholarship

The Northern Nevada Development Authority invites the public to create a “theme” team and join the “Super Heroes” team for their Golf-a-Thon June 30 at Empire Ranch Golf Cours, to establish a scholarship to WNCC’s planned employee-training center.

Jarrod Lopiccolo will be playing Batman, David Shriver will be Robin, Steve Rose will be Superman, and Eric Abowd will portray the Incredible Hulk. They have issued a challenge for other community members to do the same while playing 100 holes of golf in one day.

Basalite, two new companies awarded tax incentives

The Nevada Commission on Economic Development awarded tax and business incentives to two new companies relocating to Nevada and an existing business that will be expanding operations.

Basalite Concrete Products, LLC manufactures and distributes concrete products and will expand its current Carson City operations in order to meet the increasing concrete product demand.

American Grating, LLC manufactures and distributes fiberglass grating used in chemical or high corrosion areas as a substitute for steel grating. It will move tits operations from Los Angeles to Nevada. American Grating’s relocation will bring a capital investment of $5.37 million and create 20 new above-average-wage jobs.

It was awarded $43,013 in tax abatements. StoneWall Designs, Inc. manufactures polyurethane rock panels for interior and exterior applications in the residential and commercial building industry. Stonewall plans on opening a 13,860-square-foot facility in Henderson this summer, creating 86 new jobs in Nevada with wages that are above the statewide average. The company will make a capital investment of more than $2 million in Nevada, and was granted $155,775 in tax abatements.

AD2 wins award for public service

The Reno Ad 2 Club won third place in the American Advertising Federation’s Club Achievement Award for their work on the Nevada EcoNet book.

Ad 2 Reno was recognized at a Club Achievement Ceremony during the AAF National Conference in San Francisco.
