Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corp. and its Carson City manufacturing facility was awarded a five-year, $15 million contract from the U.S. Navy to repair turbine engines on Wednesday.

The work will be shared with other Chromalloy facilities, including one in San Diego, said company spokeswoman Cathy Gedvilas.

The contract will include repairing engine blades, vanes, shrouds and seals for the LM2500 aero derivative gas turbine engine that powers the Navy’s fleet of cruisers, frigates, destroyers and patrol boats.

Chromalloy, a subsidiary of New York-based Sequa Corporation, operates in 14 countries and specializes in repairing and manufacturing parts for gas turbine engines for airplanes, ships and other land-based operations.
