The long-vacant building known as Mike’s Pharmacy is vacant no longer.

Dahl’s Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy now located on Carson Street, is moving into the 4,800-square-foot building.

“The biggest thing for us is customer convenience,” said Nathan Dahl, owner. “This has a drive-through window and easy access parking lot.”

Dahl’s new location plans to open May 13 and hold a grand opening party on June 21, from 3-6 p.m.

Dahl’s Pharmacy has locations in Fallon and Fernley and has been in Carson City since 2010, located in the former Medcare Pharmacy next to Grocery Outlet.

In 2015, Mike Hautekeet closed Mike’s Pharmacy and the building at the corner of Curry and William streets has been vacant since then. An agreement with CVS prevented another pharmacy from locating there until now, said Dahl. That agreement term recently expired just as Dahl’s Pharmacy lease on Carson Street came up so Dahl said timing was right to buy the building and relocate. Dahl’s Pharmacy’s 14 Carson City employees will be moving with it.

“Nothing changes except the location,” said Dahl.

Dahl’s Pharmacy features retail items and medical equipment such as wheelchairs as well as the pharmacy.

The pharmacy also delivers and offers a medication synchronization service in which all of a client’s prescriptions are filled at the same time.

The business also offers a service packaging medications for individuals, delivering pre-sorted pills packaged for each day to help people with multiple medications manage their regime. Dahl’s Pharmacy works with 37 assisted living facilities and guardianship programs, and offers the service to individuals as well.

Dahl’s Pharmacy hours will remain the same: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The new location is at 1007 N. Curry St., with a drive through on the north side of the building and a parking lot on the south side.

“We’re here to serve the community,” said Dahl.
