Carson City Health Department’s food-service inspections (all scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations):

• Golden Dragon Restaurant, 3250 Retail Dr., #150, restaurant, scored 94 points. Chicken (double-stacked) in prep tables at 70 degrees. Chicken was out of temperature for more than four hours and voluntarily discarded. Improper cooling of bulk cooked chicken. Food is stored in containers that are inadequately labeled or unlabeled. Specifically, coconut milk can used for other food.

• San Marcos Grill, 260 E. Winnie Lane, restaurant and bar/lounge, scored 100 points.

• Abbeys Kitchen, 319 N. Carson St., mobile food vehicle, mobile catering, scored 100 points.

• Papa Joe’s Ice Cream, 1424 Molly Dr., mobile ice cream/Sno Cone vehicle, scored 100 points.

• Sierra Bakery, 1966 E. Highway 50, scored 94. A supply of sanitary towels was not present at the counter hand sink. The floors in the kitchen are peeling in some areas, leaving edges that can trap food debris. The dining room carpeting is torn in several places and is not easily cleanable. Miscellaneous articles are not stored in an orderly manner. Clutter and disarray prevents adequate cleaning. Unused equipment is stored on the premises (repeat violation). There was no certified food handler present at the time of inspection (repeat violation).

An accurate metal stem thermometer was not provided to check food temperatures. A bag of onions was stored on the floor (repeat violation). A kitchen light fixture cover had a large crack, and the lamp was not properly shielded or protect (repeat violation).

• Carson Cigar Co. The, 318 N. Carson St., #101, bar/lounge, scored 93 points. Readily perishable food, whipped cream, in the small reach-in refrigerator was at a temperature greater 46 degrees and was not being maintained at 40 degrees or below. The refrigerator was incorrectly set at the lowest cooling. Food-contact surfaces inside the ice machine unclean.

• Save Mart Supermarket #552, 3620 N. Carson St., deli department, scored 94 points. Employees do not wash hands thoroughly or as often as necessary to remove contamination. Employee observed not washing hands between tasks and putting on gloves. Food is stored in containers in deli cooler that are inadequately labeled or unlabeled. Specifically cheese, salami and mayonnaise.

• Save Mart Supermarket #552, 3620 N. Carson St., meat department, scored 100 points.

• Save Mart Supermarkets #552, 3620 N. Carson St., coffee cart, scored 98 points. Hand-wash sink was inaccessible. You must use the hand-wash sink for washing hands. Use of a three-compartment dishwashing sink is not approved for hand washing.

• Smith’s Food and Drug, 599 E. William St., meat department, scored 99 points. Floor junctures are improperly maintained in the butcher area. The tile covings are broken or missing in many places collecting debris. The light fixtures in the walk-in cooler are rusty and not clean (repeat violation).
