Talk of the Town: Carson City Historical Society

Jenny Schnabel

It is Carson City’s History

Do you know what it’s all about?

The Carson City Historical Society

Will teach you from the inside out

Dedicated to preserving and informing

For anyone who wants to know

With a board of 6

And many volunteers

They are always on the go

It began for me last Saturday

I took the Blue Line Tour

Debbie Lane their president and our tour guide

Took us on a mile and a half, 90-minute whirl

The Curry House, the Ferris Mansion, the Steward-Nye home

The Bliss Mansion, the Clemens Home, the Governor’s Mansion

Just to name a few

Learning so much history

That I never knew

Did you know the father of the American Christmas Card

Louis Prang, once lived here?

And the Brewery Arts Building,

Of course, became famous for its beer

And the Ferris Mansion

His son invented the Ferris Wheel

There is so much to see and learn

It’s history that started here

The Carson City Historical Society is a nonprofit

It needs new members and volunteers

Docents for the guided walks and tours

And, of course, people to spread their news

Always with good cheer

It’s clearly an organization

That is worth fighting for

Dedicated to preserving, restoring and informing

Our Carson City’s History
