The Nevada State Railroad Museum is looking for friendly volunteers at their front desk to greet museum visitors, collect fees, and issue admission tickets. Available shifts include Monday mornings, Thursday afternoons and Sunday mornings. Volunteer tour guides and volunteers to work on the train crews are also needed! ComputerCorps is seeking volunteers to disassemble, test, repair, upgrade and reassemble donated computer and other equipment to create refurbished computers, printers, and monitors. ComputerCorps then donates this refurbished computer equipment to deserving individuals, organizations and schools at little or no cost. Volunteers receive free lunch and earn credits toward the purchase of computers or electronic equipment for each hour served. Kitchen help is also needed. RSVP is seeking part-time Homemakers to provide assistance to Carson City and Dayton seniors in need of essential cleaning services so they may remain in their own homes in dignity. Homemakers are contract employees who make $10 an hour and who are available to work approximately 10 – 20 hours a week. If you are interested, call Kris at RSVP at (775) 687-4680 x 119.
Are you interested in volunteering with a local organization that has been nominated for the CNN Heroes Award? If so, ESL In-Home is just the right organization for you! ESL In-Home Program is seeking Community Volunteer Tutors to provide ESL tutoring, literacy, or citizenship study to adult immigrants. You do not need to be bi-lingual to volunteer with ESL!
FISH provides food, clothing, shelter and medical aid to the homeless and hungry within our community, with the objective to provide programs and referrals to families and individuals so that they may become self-sufficient. FISH is looking for volunteers in their Food Bank, Family Dining Room, at one of their thrift stores, assistance with intakes and referrals, as well as data entry.
RSVP is seeking Veterans interested in helping area Veterans with services including transportation, wellness checks, promoting the RSVP Veteran’s VIP Program services to potential Veteran clients, and providing Veteran client referral to partner agencies for assistance.
