Holiday vendors offering handmade jewelry, salt lamps, baskets, metal art and more will be on hand at the Carson Mall through Dec. 27.

Today

String players of all ages and levels are invited to join the eighth annual Christmas Carol Play-along from 4 to 5 p.m. today inside the Carson Mall. The free event is hosted by Carson City Symphony Association and Carson Mall.

Violin, viola, cello, bass, and harp players are welcome to come and play. Players are asked to bring a music stand. Everyone else, come and listen or sing along. To play, contact Sue Jesch at 775-450-5584 or sue@tahoefiddler.com for sheet music and information.

Saturday

The Brewery Arts Center is hosting a Christmas show with Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Performance Hall. Tickets range in price form $25 to $50. VIP tickets include a meet and drink with the band. Call 775-883-1976.

Cafe at Adele’s is hosting cookies with Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There also will be hot chocolate and cider as well as live music by the Dowell Brothers. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children. Proceeds go to Ron Wood Family Resource Center. Unwrapped toys for local children will be collected at the event.

Carson City’s Rockin’ Rev will host his annual Christmas party 2-6 p.m. Saturday on Reminiscing with the Rockin’ Rev, a weekly radio program that can be heard on AM 1180 KCKQ or at http://www.america matters.us. The Rev will play four hours of Christmas songs, including rock and roll, rhythm and blues, doo-wop, blues, jazz and novelty recordings. Some of the artists to be featured include: Elvis, The Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, Louis Armstrong, Frankie Lymon, Jan & Dean, Jerry Butler, Brook Benton, Lloyd Price, Gladys Knight, Connie Francis, Smokey Robinson, the Supremes, Brenda Lee and Jackie Wilson.

Christmas Eve

A Christmas Eve candlelight service is planned at 6 p.m. at Gift of Grace Lutheran Church, 290 S. West St., Fernley. Call 775-575-5400.

Another candlelight service is planned at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1750 N. Carson St. in Carson City. It will include singing Christmas carols, music, a message, the observance of the Lord’s Supper and a candle lighting. Call 775-882-1851.
