Carson City's fourth annual 5K Walk for Suicide Prevention will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bob McFadden Plaza, 223 W. Third St.

Partnership Carson City is teaming up with the Nevada Coalition for Suicide Prevention and the Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention to host the walk.

In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month in September, the walk is aimed at educating the community about the resources available for people suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts, as well as for their families.

Nationally, every 12 minutes someone dies by suicide. Nevada is ranked within the top five states of highest suicide rates.
