Pedestrian, 5 dogs killed in Dayton hit-and-run; 38-year-old Dayton man arrested

Nevada Appeal staff report

A 38-year-old Dayton man was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with a hit and run that killed a man and his five dogs.

The Nevada Highway Patrol and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the suspect as James Parisi, also of Dayton.

On Thursday at approximately 6:52 a.m., NHP Troopers assisted LYSO deputies at Six Mile Canyon and Roughing It roads for a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian and his dogs.

Preliminary investigation showed Parisi was allegedly traveling westbound on Six Mile Canyon Road. The vehicle crossed over the center of the road and struck Michael Kuntz, a 59-year-old Dayton resident and the dogs.

The NHP said the success of this investigation relied on a concerned community and the collaborative efforts between the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Nevada Highway Patrol. NHP Case #190801200.
