Ross Gold Park playground in Carson City open to public

Nevada Appeal staff report

The Ross Gold Park Playground Project is now open to the public.

“The playground provides outdoor play environment and experiences for the physical and social inclusion of all ages and abilities. In addition, it provides an inclusive multi-generational play destination that encourages active, independent, and meaningful play for everyone. Garden Shop Nursery Landscaping Division began construction on the project in April and completed the project on time and within budget,” the Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department said in a release.

The 25-year-old playground was replaced as the city works to fix the aging infrastructure in the parks. The park is the city’s first universally accessible playground. Other improvements done to the park were to make ADA improvements to the asphalt parking lot.

A $261,657 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant and $91,664 from the Community Development Block Grant program along with matching for the grants from the Residential Construction Tax paid for the improvements.
