School grounds get a little help

The staff and students of Fremont School would like to express our thanks to Ben and John Rupert for building the Galesdungalo (traditional summer shelter of the Washoe Indians) in our Great Basin Habitat. The firepit built by Anthony Lange completed the dwelling and provided authenticity to our wonderful new resource.

Also, Mr. David Johnson, a certified Master Gardener, has tamed the overgrown fruit trees in our garden. You are marvelous!

With Gratitude,

David Lowe

Thanks to Ladies Night sponsors

Food For Thought would like to thank the following sponsors for their donations to our Ladies Night Out fundraiser on Nov 16, 2010 First, Michael Millard and the staff at Carson Plaza Conference Center were so amazing! They went above and beyond for us at their beautiful facility. U.S. Foods made a huge donation that helped us more than we hoped for. Also making very generous donations were The Nevada Appeal, Reds Old 395, Alsco, Carla Wilson sang Sweet Vocal Renditions, Carson City Florist, Dennis Hof and the Carson Nugget. Without all of our supporters we would not be able to provide a weekend bag of food for our community’s children that need it the most. The need to provide this food continues to grow as does our need for funds to fulfill the need. If you would like to donate, please visit our website at http://www.nvfoodforthought.org.

Thank you for campaign help

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those individuals who assisted me with this year’s re-election campaign. Many people pitched in to help hang signs, put together advertising, host “Meet and Greet” functions and encourage Lyon County residents to vote. Many others made monetary contributions, which were definitely invaluable. Special thanks go to Dr. Robin Titus, my family, Stephanie Ragan for the website, Bob Reed, Rich and Catherine Martinez, Peggy Gray, Anita and Orlis Trone, the Lyon County Republican and Democrat Central Committees and many others too numerous to mention. The support that I received was overwhelming.

Special thanks go out to all of the LCSO employees and Lyon County voters who supported me in my re-election and who recognize all of the positive accomplishments that the LCSO has made over the past four years. Even though we face declining revenues and hard hits to our budgets, I am confident that we, working together, can provide the safety and security that we have come to expect in Lyon County and the maintenance of our quality of life.

Again, thank all of you, and I look forward to working with you for the next four years.

Sincerely,

Allen Veil

Lyon County Sheriff

People make a difference

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people at Carson Tahoe Medical Center who were so kind to me after my recent stroke.

Dr. Bessette and Paul Mausling: I feel that your immediate response and care for me is what enables me to enjoy my life today, and I thank you for that.

The nurses that took care of me in CCU, your care, dedication and kindness is something I will never forget. I am so blessed that each of you were there for me.

To all the nurses on the surgical floor thank you for the excellent care I received. A special thanks to Arlene; you going above and beyond your duties had such a calming effect on me.

To my therapists in the rehab unit, words cannot describe the gratitude and respect I have for the work that you do. You all inspired me to do my best, you showed me that I can do anything I put my mind to do. Dr Gravan thank you for giving me the confidence and courage to try again.

Dr. Weed, I cannot thank you enough for all the kindness you showed me, and the times you wouldn’t let me give up – even when I wanted to. You are a gifted doctor.

To my friend Debbie, I cannot even begin to thank you for the time you spent with me in the hospital, all the encouragement and kindness you showed me. I will forever be grateful.

You all have become a very special part of my life, and I will always remember each and every one of you with love and respect.

To my husband Mike, thank you for all you do for me and hanging in there with me. Love you.

To all my coworkers and my friends at Raleys, you all were the inspiration I needed to get me through this part of my life. I thank each one of you for never giving up on me, and you will see me back soon

Thank you all,
