Carson City Sheriff’s Log: Soda lands man in hot water
The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
• At 11:15 p.m., Jonathan Cote, 43, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and failure to register as an ex-felon after deputies were called to Walmart. He’s accused of taking a soda from a cooler at the front of the store but the arrest report says he had “numerous prior arrests for petit larceny and theft.” In addition, the report says a check of his supposed residence revealed he has never lived there. Total bail was set at $20,150.
• At 6:53 p.m., a 29-year-old Carson cook was arrested on suspicion of six misdemeanor counts after a traffic stop for speeding on Highway 50 near the golf course. In addition to speeding, he was charged with driving on a license suspended for DUI, no valid license, no proof of insurance and having an open container in the car. The obstruction charge was added because the driver attempted to use a relative’s identification instead of giving his name. Total bail on the charges is $2,150.
