Evidence linked to Cal shooting found in Carson City

A multi-jurisdiction search warrant execution was successful in finding evidence linked to a California shooting.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Yuba City Police Department executed search warrants on two residences and a business in Carson City and Yuba City, Calif., Sept. 25 to attempt to locate evidence in a drive-by shooting that occurred in Yuba City.

The shooting happened Sept. 14 at 8:21 p.m. after the Yuba City Police Department responded to reports of shots fired. There, officers found an adult male motorcyclist lying on the road, officials with Yuba City PD said.

The victim, who was originally mistakenly reported to be deceased, was transported to Rideout Memorial Hospital for treatment and was released a few days later.

The incident is possibly linked to the Hells Angels motorcycle gang.

The person of interest in the investigation owns property both in Carson City and Yuba City as well as a business in Carson City, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. The search warrants in Carson were executed at the Roop Street Tanglewood Village apartments and the Highway 50 Nautical Motorcycles shop, executed by Carson City and Lyon County gang units as well as Tri-Net and the Special Enforcement Team.

The search warrant, issued by the Carson City District Court, was to search for possible evidence in the Yuba City shooting, but no arrest warrant has been issued at the time. Furlong said while they still can’t disclose what items the teams were looking for, they were successful in their search.

“A person of interest and evidence of the shooting was suspected in Carson City, he had local business and residence ties and that is why a search warrant was executed in Carson City,” Furlong said.

Furlong could confirm the vehicle of interest in the shooting was located in Carson City during their search.

There was no crime committed in Carson City linked to this case, Furlong said. It’s Yuba City’s case — Carson was just acting as an assisting agency.
