Second guilty plea in robbery of 101-year-old veteran
The second defendant in the robbery of a 101-year-old veteran on Memorial Day admitted guilt.
Robbie Hernandez, 28, was before Judge James Wilson four times to enter a plea but changed his mind each time.
Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to a single count of robbing a senior citizen with a deadly weapon.
That came after he balked at the deal two weeks ago and was told by prosecutor Amy Steelman she would file a new complaint charging all five original felonies.
His co-defendant Jordan Burkhart pleaded guilty in July.
The two were arrested following the robbery of James Sorrentino at gunpoint in his south Carson City home, a robbery that netted them only about $30 in cash and some personal items.
When the two are sentenced in October, they could receive up to 20 years in prison plus another 15 years for the deadly weapon enhancement.
Both men remain in custody in lieu of $250,000 bail.
