Two arrested after high speed chase in Carson City

Nevada Appeal staff report

Two people were arrested Thursday morning after a man lead police on a high speed chase in Carson City.

The incident started at 8:15 a.m. at the Carson Street Motel 6 after a man called deputies to report a Ford Mustang GT his ex-wife, Jennifer Robertson, had possession of was in the motel parking lot and he wanted to get back rightful possession. Robertson, 37, claimed she didn’t have the keys to the vehicle with her, and deputies cleared the scene and left the man to wait for a tow company for the car.

At 9:16 a.m., deputies were called to respond to the scene because a second man, Robertson’s boyfriend 25-year-old Timothy Cave, had come and taken the Mustang from the parking lot.

Cave lead police on a high speed chase through the south end of Carson, from Saliman and Sonoma, across Koontz to Edmonds to Snyder, reaching speeds of 95 mph in 35 mph zones. Deputies called off the chase on Snyder due to risk to other traffic.

While officers were chasing Cave, the reporting party told officers he saw Robertson leave in a GMC Yukon and was able to provide a license plate number for the vehicle. Dispatch located the residence the vehicle was registered to and when deputies arrived at the location they found Robertson and Cave.

No injuries were reported during the chase.

Both were arrested. Cave was arrested on suspicion of felony grand larceny of an automobile, felony eluding, felony reckless driving, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and Robertson was arrested on suspicion of felony conspiracy to commit a crime, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Bail for Cave was set at $46,600 and bail for Robertson was set at $42,500.
