Woman involved in drug ring enters guilty plea
The first of nine people involved in an alleged major drug bust pleaded guilty in Justice Court Friday afternoon.
Patricia Bigpond, originally charged with sale of a controlled substance and two counts of trafficking, waived her preliminary hearing to plead guilty to one count of level two trafficking. With this deal, all other charges were dismissed.
Bigpond was arrested after Tri-Net Narcotics Task Force seized a house on the 3500 block of Desatoya Drive in early March. Authorities seized nearly 11 ounce of methamphetamine with a street value of more than $30,000, eliminating the neighborhood’s major supplier.
For trafficking charges, a mandatory sentence of 2-5 years is recommended by the courts.
She will go to the District Court on June 22 to formally enter her guilty plea.
The remaining co-defendants are scheduled to appear in court for preliminary hearings Tuesday morning.
