Delores Fay Porterfield
Delores Fay Porterfield, a resident of Carson City for the past 35 years passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2007 she was 83 years old.

Mrs. Porterfield was born on June 24, 1924 in Buford, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Watts. She grew up and attended school in Gooding, Idaho. After graduating she worked as a sales clerk and telephone operator. On July 20, 1944 she joined the United States Navy serving during World War II, being honorably discharged on January 8, 1946. She married her childhood sweetheart Lee Porterfield on December 26, 1945 in Elko, Nevada. The couple lived in Gooding, Idaho then moving to Winnemucca for 2 years, moving to Elko for a year then settling in McDermitt from 1956 until 1970, where the couple owned and operated the Stateline Cafe in McDermitt, Nevada from 1959-1968. In 1972 the couple moved to Carson City.
Mrs. Porterfield was a past member of the Eastern Star as well as a past VFW Member. Her hobbies included playing cards, cooking, quilting, sewing, reading, traveling, emailing, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Porterfield is survived by her husband Lee Porterfield of Carson City, children Linda Portter of Henderson, Nevada, John & Cherie Porterfield of Winnemucca, Nevada and Tamara & Lawrence Giurlani of Carson City, Nevada, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Porterfield was preceded in death by her Parents Charles & Margaret Watts, brothers Robert Watts, Ted Moore and Connise Moore.
It has been suggested that those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Mrs. Porterfield’s memory to direct them to the American Cancer Society.
