Carson City students perform Spring Fling concert April 23
April 17, 2015
Carson City Symphony's Strings in the Schools ensembles, with Sue Jesch, conductor, will play music by Antonio Vivaldi, Antonín Dvorak, John Lennon and Paul McCartney in their Spring Fling concert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Carson City Community Center.
The free concert will feature performances by students in second grade through high school from beginning violins and cellos, intermediate String Ensemble, Pizzazz, and STRAZZ.
David Bugli, conductor of the Carson City Symphony, said, "Some of these students have been in the program since it began in 2005 and are an inspiration to the younger players."
Strings in the Schools, now in its 10th year, is Carson City Symphony Association's tuition-free, after-school program for young string players. About 150 students currently participate.
The program is supported in part by public funds through grants from the Nevada Arts Council and Partnership Carson City and also by private donations.
