Fallon woman awaiting murder sentence arrested

FALLON ” A woman awaiting sentencing for killing her stepmother is accused of attacking a fellow inmate at the Churchill County Jail, authorities said.
According to a booking report, Joanna Marie Plants attacked the other inmate Sunday. The report said other inmates witnessed the incident and that Plants admitted striking the inmate.
Plants is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 4 on her guilty plea to shooting and killing 42-year-old Ginger Plants in March. Investigators say the killing involved a dispute about caring for the family pets.
She faces one of three penalties ” life without parole, life with the possibility of parole after 20 years, or a definite term of 50 years with parole eligibility after 20 years.
Plants remains in custody, and Churchill County District Attorney Art Mallory said no arraignment date was immediately set for the alleged battery.
