First female lieutenant governor issues autobiography
(Staff reports) Sue Wagner, the first woman elected as Nevada’s lieutenant governor, will present her newly released oral history at a book signing Jan. 29 in Reno.
The oral history is titled “Through the Glass Ceiling” and details Wagner’s life in politics and public service. The book signing will be held at Austin’s Restaurant, 7671 S. Virginia St. from 3-5 p.m.
Wagner served three terms in the Nevada Assembly as a Republican representing Reno and a total of nine years in the Nevada Senate before her election as lieutenant governor in 1990.
Although she was the first woman elected to the post, she wasn’t the first to serve as lieutenant governor. Maude Frazier was appointed by then Gov. Grant Sawyer to fill out the term of Rex Bell who died in office in 1962.
