Clark County judge to run for open seat on Nevada Supreme Court
Veteran Clark County District Judge Douglas Herndon has announced he will run for the Nevada Supreme Court seat being vacated by Mark Gibbons.
Gibbons, currently the longest serving member of the court, has announced plans to retire when his term expires at the end of 2020.
Herndon has served as a district judge since his appointment by then-Gov. Kenny Guinn in 2005. Before that, he was a prosecutor in the Clark County DA’s office for 14 years, nine of them as chief deputy DA in charge of the special victims unit.
“As a judge, I work every day to ensure that justice is provided to all Nevadans by being prepared, courteous, thoughtful and fair,” he said. “I am confident that the experience and wisdom I’ve gained as a district court judge will allow me to serve as a valuable member of our state’s highest court.”
