Election observer team formed
Amid growing accusations the upcoming election might somehow be rigged, Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske and Attorney General Adam Laxalt have announced the formation of teams of election observers.
They will use volunteers from both of their offices to observe the polls during both early voting and on election day November 8.
“We both agree that it is of great importance to the citizens of this state to jointly employ our resources to help ensure the integrity of this year’s election,” said Cegavske.
The volunteers won’t interfere with the election or give direction to poll workers. If any suspicious activity occurs, they will make a record of that activity that might be used in a civil or criminal action against anyone attempting to engage in voter fraud, intimidation, electioneering or any other illegal activity.
“We anticipate that our volunteers will be a strong deterrent to voter fraud, voter intimidation or electioneering,” said Laxalt. “We are prepared to build a case against anyone who may be planning to jeopardize or undermine the integrity of Nevada’s elections.”
In addition to the observer teams, they said individuals with complaints, problems or concerns can call the Secretary of State’s hot line at 775-684-5705 or email the office at email@example.com.
