Heller backs backs bill designed to improve access to contraceptives

Nevada Appeal Capitol Bureau

Sen. Dena Heller, R-Nv., has joined in legislation designed to improve access to “safe and effective contraceptives.”

The legislation would also encourage manufacturers of routine-use contraceptives to file an application with the Food and Drug Administration to sell their products over the counter.

“As a husband and father to two daughters I don’t believe women should be restricted in their access to health care,” said Heller. “Women should have greater access to safe, effective and affordable contraception.”

The contraceptives would be available to all ages 18 and up under the bill for products the FDA has ruled are save and effective in preventing pregnancies and managing health conditions.
