Laxalt to tour Northern Nevada

Nevada Appeal Capitol Bureau

Attorney General Adam Laxalt will tour northern Nevada communities beginning next week in a program he has dubbed “AG for a Day.”

He said it’s a new version of a program his grandfather Paul created while he was governor. That program was titled “Capital for a Day” and tried to identify issues that concern Nevadans.

The attorney general said he and key members of his staff will head for Fallon September 6 to hear the concerns of residents in different northern Nevada counties and attempt to address them.

He said they will make presentations on topics ranging from open government, consumer fraud, domestic violence, elder abuse, taxation, government finance and military issues.

“I strongly believe that the closer the government is to the people, the more effectively we can meet their needs,” he said. “That is why this AG for a Day tour is dedicated to bringing the office of the attorney general directly to the people of Nevada.”

After Fallon, the tour will visit Eureka, Ely, Wells, Elko, Battle Mountain, Winnemucca, Lovelock, Minden and Yerington.

His grandfather Paul conducted a similar tour of the state in 1968 accompanied by key members of his staff.
