Nevada Attorney General joins lawsuit supporting abortion rights
Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford has joined a coalition of 16 states supporting an Indiana lawsuit fighting for access to women’s reproductive health care.
The Whole Woman’s Health Alliance is fighting the state over denial of a license to open a medication abortion clinic in South Bend.
“Every woman should have access to safe reproductive services, which is why this case affects Nevada,” said Ford in a statement. “Standing up for the rights of women is my responsibility as attorney general and I’m honored to partner with other states to fight for the constitutional rights of Nevada women.”
The Alliance sued Indiana arguing that the licensing requirements applied to the South Bend clinic are overly vague and unconstitutional. The federal court in that area ruled the Alliance could open while the case is processed, ruling that the Alliance was likely to win its case because the rules place an undue burden on a woman’s ability to choose to have an abortion.
