High wind advisory through Sunday
According to the National Weather Service in Reno, a high wind warning remains in effect from 11 p.m. tonight until 5 p.m. Friday.
A high wind watch is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday, as winds are expected to increase by Friday.
Southwest winds are 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 65 mph. Gusts up to 90 mph will occur in the foothills and wind prone areas along Highway 395. Sierra Ridge gusts up to 110 mph.
Rain is also in the forecast Friday through Sunday.
The National Weather Service in Reno advises to secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, holiday decorations, and trash cans before winds increase, as amage to trees, power lines, or property is likely.
