Horton Rexford ‘Nick’ Andrews
Horton Rexford “Nick” Andrews, 88, a Yerington resident, died May 5, 2007, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carson City.
Mr. Andrews was born March 26, 1919.
He served as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in North Africa. He later served as a second lieutenant with the California National Guard. He participated in atomic bomb detonations testing.
He was a pilot and active in Civil Air Patrol units in California, Florida and Nevada, as well as an amateur HAM radio operator. He was a Mason and served as Grand Master of the lodge in Menlo Park, Calif. He was also a member of Hope Lodge 22 in Yerington and the Tyler of Brucite Lodge 42 in Gabbs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, in October 2002.
Among his survivors are his sons Bob Andrews of Grosse Ile, Mich., Ralph Andrews of Redding, Calif., and Mark Andrews of Newcastle, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and his friends including Jackie Metzler of Springfield, Pa.
