Hunter education records are now on the Internet

By Don Quilici

According to a recent press release by Les Smith of the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), hunters can now make sure their Nevada hunter education records are up to date, a step that may save some last minute scrambles when a hunter goes to buy a license and apply for big game tags on line.

A new computerized system, Nevada Wildlife Data System (NWDS), is being implemented by Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) to converge the online licensing and application process with the hunter education verification step.

Once complete, the new system will fill in verified hunter education information when a hunter buys a license online or at a license agent next year.

To avoid last minute hang-ups, hunters are encouraged to verify their information to ensure it is complete and current. Nevada residents can go on-line to, click on the Hunter Education Pre-registration icon, and then follow the prompts to print out a registration form.

After completing the form, attach a copy of the proof of Hunter Education and mail it to the address on the form.
