Jack Gordon Warnecke

A memorial service for Jack Gordon Warnecke, 89, a 31-year resident of Carson City, will be Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Mr. Warnecke died July 29, 2007, in Carson City. He was born July 5, 1918, in Farnham, Surrey, England. He immigrated to the United States with his family at an early age to Washington. He married Jacqueline Way George. He graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. He worked for Union Oil Company of California at Oleum Refinery in the San Francisco Bay Area for 35 years. His final five years with the company were at the Chicago Refinery in Lemont, Ill. Mr. Warnecke and his wife moved to Carson City after his retirement in 1976. He continued to consult for Union Oil Company.

He was a former elected member of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, and was active in the Lions Club, United States Navy League, and Republican Party. He enjoyed daily swimming at the Carson City Aquatic Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years; sister Betty Wilson; brother Theodore Warnecke; daughter Jill Anne Kowalik; and grandsons Kevin Palmer Warnecke and John Patrick Warnecke.

Among his survivors are his daughter and son-in-law Judith and Lawrie Cranston of Fairfield, Calf.; son and daughter-in-law, Captain John Richard, U.S. Navy (Ret), and Karen Warnecke, of Charlottesville, Va.; son, James Gordon Warnecke of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Kay Prairo of San Jose, Calif.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
