The city of Fallon recognized Angela Calkins at its Tuesday night meeting as Employee of the Quarter.

Calkins began her career with the Fallon Police Department as a dispatcher in February 2007, Mayor Ken Tedford Jr. said.

“Calkins has emerged as a leader in the dispatch center and is always volunteering to take on additional responsibilities,” Tedford said. “Calkins is a true asset to the Fallon Police Department and is very deserving of this recognition.”

Tedford said Calkins is the assistant terminal agency coordinator, which ensures that the police department is in compliance with federal and state regulations. He said she was also instrumental in developing the city’s Amber Alert program. Calkins trains new dispatchers as one of the communication-training officers and is always willing to help with any project, not only within the dispatch center, but also throughout the entire agency, Tedford added.

“I’m very proud of myself to have been recognized by the city as its Employee of the Quarter,” Calkins said.

Calkins said she enjoys her job and the people with whom she works.

“It’s a very fast-paced job that is constantly different and keeps me on my toes,” Calkins said. “I enjoy being able to help the people of Fallon and making whatever difference I can in their lives.”

Calkins has lived in Fallon since 2006 and has been married to her husband, James, for 19 years. They have a 9 year-old son, Brandon.

Calkins said when she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her family by participating in outdoor activities.
