Scott Baker was recognized as the city of Fallon Employee of the Quarter Tuesday night at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting.

Baker has been a lineman in the city’s Electrical Department since 2007. Baker is highly competent in performing the demanding and potentially duties, Mayor Ken Tedford Jr. noted of Baker during the recognition ceremony in the City Council Chambers.

“He is respected as a knowledgeable, hard-working and dependable employee who is passionate about doing the job right,” Tedford said. “On a daily basis, Scott performs demanding work for the city’s high voltage electrical system, which requires a great deal of skill and expertise. His willingness to tackle any job assignment and his great attitude make him a vital asset for the city.”

Baker grew up in Connersville, Ind., before his family relocated to Palm Bay, Fla., and he graduated from Melbourne High School. His interest in working outdoors led him to ward work trimming trees, including work near power lines, Tedford noted during the presentation. In time, Baker entered into an apprenticeship program to become an electrical lineman, and he eventually secured a job with Louisiana-based Red Simpson, Inc.

Scott and Heather Baker have been married for more than 20 years and have two sons, Dalton and Dillon. Dalton, has graduated from high school and enlisted to serve in the Marine Corps.

Tedford added that Baker also volunteers his services at the Fallon Trap Club, plus he enjoys NASCAR and is an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.

Note: A request by Carlos O’Neill for an off-premises/unrestricted liquor license for Amanda Store, to be located at 145 S. Maine St., was pulled from the meeting’s agenda.
