Cops nab woman after chase
A 60-year-old Churchill County woman was arrested Friday for leading officers on a high-speed chase through parts on Fallon and then on U.S. Highway 50 toward Lahontan Reservoir.
Churchill County Sheriff Ben Trotter said Marlene Mori, who lives near the reservoir, was booked on charges of driving under the influence with drugs, willful failure to yield, reckless driving and resisting arrest. She also faces similar charges in the city. Her bond was set at $15,000, but Trotter said Mori bailed out on Sunday.
Trotter said on Friday afternoon at about 2 p.m., Fallon Police received a call about a woman acting disorientated near Walmart. When police arrived, the sheriff’s report said Mori jumped into her Orange Nissan sedan and began leading officers on a chase into Fallon. FPD Captain Vern Ulrich confirmed officers chased Mori on Allen Road, Kaiser and Whitaker streets, through the Safeway parking lot and onto Venturacci Lane.
Mori then drove west on the Williams Avenue, but once she entered the county at Casey Road, three CCSO deputies began to pursue her. They were eventually aided by two Nevada Highway patrol troopers who provided back up.
Trotter said for some unknown reason, Mori ended the chase on U.S. Highway 50. Officers took her into custody and transported her back to Fallon. Mori is due to appear in Justice Court on Feb. 3.
