On Aug. 27, 2016, our family Matriarch passed peacefully with her family by her side. A longtime resident of Fallon, Edith Marie Pennington, 90, was born on Aug. 31, 1925 in Portland, Oregon.
The oldest of four siblings born to Adolph and Marie Wagner Vogele. She worked for Montgomery Wards as a young girl in Portland.
Edith married her husband, Lynn, in Boise, ID. on March 16, l946. After moving to Fallon she worked for Gallaghers and Garnicks sales yards, then for CC Communications for 30 years, retiring in l997. Edith lived life to the fullest, through simple pleasures. Her family was the center of her world, enjoying holidays, family meals and game shows. Her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren brought the biggest sparkle to her beautiful blue eyes, her mind remained very wise and alert to the end of her day.
As one from the “Greatest Generation” she witnessed many changes in history. Those whose lives she touched, while upon this earth, have been greatly enriched by that part of herself she generously gave to them. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lynn, in l987. Her sister Eva Vogele Pennington and brothers Richard and Ed Vogele. She is survived by daughters, Shirley (John) Fogle and Kathy Cook of Fernley; son Terry (Nan) of Fallon; grandchildren, Shawn (Brian) Cook, Karen (Dare) Manning, Tommy Cook, Clay (Heather) and Tye (Danielle) Pennington; great-grand children, Samantha and Cameron Manning, Matthew Davis, Tripp and Cole Pennington and baby Pennington, arriving March 2017, and Lacy and Wyatt Pennington; also numerous nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law Dave Pennington of Meridian, ID., and her beloved pets Tiger and Reggie. Graveside Services will be Sept. 17th at 11:00 a.m. at the Churchill County Cemetery, with a gathering at 4155 Schindler Rd. Fallon following services. Donations may be made to CAPS.
