Employee of the Quarter
For the second quarter of 2015, staff has selected Don Hawkins as the city of Fallon Employee of the Quarter.
Hawkins is employed in the Water/Streets/Sanitation Department of Public Works, where he serves as the alley truck or large item collection truck operator.
Hawkins said he is honored to have been chosen as Employee of the Quarter. He said it feels great to be recognized for doing his job well.
“Don has earned this recognition as Employee of the Quarter for his tireless work, dedication, and outstanding professionalism in the performance of his duties during the second quarter of 2015,” said Ryan Swirczek, deputy public works director.
A native of San Clemente, Calif., Hawkins has previously worked as a construction framer, plumber and warehouse worker prior to beginning his career with the city in October 2014.
“Hawkins is hardworking, dependable and always does a great job in any assigned duty,” Swirczek said.
Hawkins primary work is the important and demanding duty of large item pick-up using Unit no. 24 truck and trailer, which responds to special requests by residents, Swirczek said. In short, his job is to collect anything and everything that is too large or cannot be properly handled by the normal sanitation trucks.
Swirczek said the large item pick-up is an especially popular and greatly appreciated service and Hawkins has done a superb job of clearing the daily lists and keeping the city neat and clean. “Don is the type of employee who gets along well with his fellow employees and always gets his assigned tasks done right,” Swirczek said.
Hawkins and his wife, Amy, have three children, and he is heavily involved in Boy Scouts and outdoor activities. In his spare time, Hawkins and his family are fans who enjoy watching NASCAR racing events.
The mayor and city council are pleased to recognize Hawkins as city of Fallon Employee of Quarter.
