By less than a stroke, Fallon’s Jeff Evett made the state cut.

The Greenwave junior boys golfer finished fifth in the individual standings — minus the players from the top three teams — to qualify for Wednesday’s Division I-A state tournament in Pahrump.

Evett finished the season with an 85.4 avergae, two-tenths of a stroke ahead of South Tahoe’s Connor Shaw and eight-tenths of a stroke better than Dayton’s Colin Hult. Shaw made the state cut, but Hult just missed.

As for Fallon’s team, the boys tied for sixth with South Tahoe with 25 points, although the Vikings had a better team score (465.8-475.1). Lowry successfully defended its league crown with 62 points and a team average of 394.7.

Elko (56, 422.4) and Spring Creek (47, 436.7) round out the Northern Division I-A’s top three teams who qualified for state.

Evett, though, turns his attention to the Mountain Falls Golf Club on the par-72 course. He will tee off Wednesday in the second-to-last threesome.

The rest of the Wave, meanwhile, had solid seasons for a club with no senior starters.

Corbin Waite just missed out on a state bid, as the junior finished four slots out of qualifying with an overall average of 89. Raymond Plasse carried a 92.8 average, Braxton Hunter scored a 96.2, Austin Rash finished with a 96.3, Charles Beyers sported a 99.5, Jake Kirsch and Mike Richards both finished with a 103.3 and Ryan Stockard had a 114.5.
