Fallon drops pair to Elko County foes
The Lady Wave soccer team is still seeking its first win after dropping home matches to Spring Creek and Elko over the weekend.
Fallon lost to Spring Creek, 2-0, on Friday and to Elko, 4-3, on Saturday at the Ed Arciniega Athletic Complex.
“The weekend games kind of got away from us,” Fallon coach Lance Lattin said. “I feel like we should have had better results, especially in the Elko game.”
Fallon dropped to 0-3-2 in the Northern 3A (0-4-4 overall) and hosts South Tahoe today at 5 p.m. and Incline on Saturday at 10 a.m. to round out the first half of the league schedule. Truckee comes to town next week to conclude the five-game home stand as Fallon will head to Winnemucca next weekend and North Tahoe in two weeks.
Lattin said the team intensity wasn’t where it needed to be and mistakes led to Elko scoring three goals to edge Fallon by one.
“The girls didn’t keep up their intensity level and showed some hesitation and indecisiveness that led to mistakes,” he added. “Against Elko, we gave away three goals that were simply errors in the defensive third of the field.”
Heading into last weekend, Alexis Jarrett was the team’s leading scorer with three goals while Kenna Hamlin has scored twice and Minny Fagundes had one. Hamlin leads the team in assists with two. Statistics were not available for the Spring Creek and Elko matches.
“Despite our struggles, the team is even more committed to improving and has increased the intensity in practice and I’m excited to see if they can get some better results,” Lattin said.
