A Fallon military family was reunited Thursday afternoon after a year apart from each other.

Jonathan and Erinn Saburn’s four children attend Logos Christian Academy and were surprised when their Navy lieutenant commander father jumped out of a gift-wrapped box during a school chapel program.

He was deployed Dec. 1, 2015, to Afghanistan, serving as an advisor to senior leadership in the Afghan military. Trained as a surface warfare officer, Saburn said his deployment was a unique mission.

Erinn teaches fifth and sixth grade at the school has family in Fallon who could provide support during the year. Erinn knew her husband was surprising the children but had not seen him yet herself. (The plan had originally been for him to fly in Saturday.) Their children are McKenzie, 11; Taylor, 10; Charlie, 8; and William, 5.
