Investigation begins on Wildes Road trailer fire

Steve Ranson
Firefighters from Fallon/Churchill and Naval Air Station Fallon's Federal fire departments responded to a fire on Wednesday that destroyed a trailer off of Wildes Road.

A Wednesday afternoon fire destroyed a single wide trailer at Greenleaf and Wildes Road.

The Fallon/Churchill Fire Department responded with three engines and two tenders, said 2nd Assistant Chief Bill Lawry. The Federal Fire Department at Naval Air Station Fallon sent on engine to assist.

Lawry said the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office originally received a call about a person burning carpet in front of the trailer. While deputies were en route, another call came in reporting the trailer was on fire.

“By the time we got there the trailer was engulfed,” Lawry said.

As the fire raged on followed by firefighters mopping up, the CCSO and Nevada Highway Patrol had Wildes Road closed between Harrigan Road and U.S. Highway 95 for most of the afternoon

According to Lawry, Doug Foster owned the trailer, but he was not home at the time.

“It appears the owner had been remodeling for some time and was supposed to move in today (Thursday),” Lawry said.

Lawry said no one was injured.

The fire marshal, said Lawry, has begun his investigation into the fire.
