Library fun jumps into spring

Join us April 13 from 5-7 p.m. for an artist’s reception with local artist Michelle Nelson. Michelle’s artwork will be on display through May.
Paws 2 Read
Thursday from 4-5 p.m. Paws 2 Read is one of the many programs offered by Paws 4 Love Therapy Dogs Therapy Dog teams will be visiting the library every month to participate in this engaging program where friendly dogs lend a loving, non-judgmental ear to beginning readers. Research has shown that when a child is given repeated opportunities to read to a dog, the child grows more confident in their reading ability and develops a desire to read on their own. Children of all ages are welcome.
Participate in a family science program featuring an experiment, books, and fun on April 22 from 2-4 p.m. The topics are electricity, technology and physics.
Family Reading Program
April 16 from 10 a.m.-noon: Improve your reading skills while reading stories to your children at this program featuring books and fun family activities. The theme is Spring Weather. This program is for parents and children ages 0 through 3rd grade.
Are you a writer looking for a place to work with like-minded people? The Churchill County Library offers a Writer’s Workshop lead by Sara Dowling. Meetings are every Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the library. All writers on all levels are welcome to participate.
Storytime is held each Wednesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. Join us for stories, songs, a craft, and valuable tips to help your child get ready to read. Future Farmers of America will be the special Thursday guests for the month. A Special Bilingual Story Time, Dia Del Nino / Children’s Day is happening on April 20 at 11 a.m.
This popular program is Friday from 2-4 p.m. and is for all ages.
New and Noteworthy
The library has all the newest books as well as dvds and downloadable titles. Of note:
Country Cooking From a Redneck Kitchen by Francine Bryson with Ann Volkwein — A collection of favorite recipes including Creamed Corn and a new one to me called Upside-Down Apple Bacon Pie.
Last Painting of Sara De Vos by Dominic Smith — A rare 17th century painting links three lives, on three continents, over three centuries in this novel.
High-Yield Vegetable Gardening by Colin McCrate and Brad Halm- — Get ready for the growing season with this book that covers all aspects of gardening.
