Nevada Affordable Housing Forum
The Nevada Affordable Housing Forum will take place Tuesday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in The Wok banquet hall in downtown Fallon.
The forum brings together local government, community-based organizations, affordable housing developers and financial institutions to pinpoint barriers and solutions to developing and maintaining affordable housing access ranging from single family homeownership to permanent supportive housing.
The forum will also discuss the value of affordable housing as part of community and economic development as well as share best practices for developing affordable housing in rural communities.
Guest speaker John W. Donlevy, city manager of Winters, Calif., will tell the story of developing an overall strategy for quality affordable housing in a rural, predominantly farm economy. He’ll also explain how Winters developed 300 units of mostly family housing in the past 10 years.
A meet and greet will be Monday from 5:30-7 p.m. at The Wok.
