The Nevada baseball team landed three student-athletes to Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American teams, announced recently by Collegiate Baseball.

Senior Austin Byler and junior Ryan Howell were named to the All-American third team, while Cal Stevenson was named to the freshmen All-American team.

Byler started in all 54 games at first base this season and batted .325 with 62 hits, 66 runs, 50 RBIs and 13 home runs. The Peoria, Ariz., native has also been a first team All-Mountain West selection and a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy.

The 6-foot-3 slugger graduated from Nevada ranking fourth in Pack history in career home runs, sixth in games played and eighth in hits and runs. Byler will be waiting to hear his name called in the 2015 MLB Draft, which runs Monday through Wednesday.

Howell has been named to the Louisville Slugger All-American third team and to the All-MW first team after his first season with the Pack. The second baseman transferred from Chabot College and went on to lead the conference in RBI (65), home runs (17) and total bases (138) this year. The Brentwood, Calif., native batted .319 on the season.

Stevenson has capped one of the most successful freshman seasons in recent Pack history with MW Co-Freshman of the Year and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America honors. The outfielder from Fremont, Calif., ranked third in the MW and fifth in the nation among freshman with a .356 batting average. Stevenson played in all 54 games and posted 74 hits, 54 runs and 25 RBIs.

This trio helped lead Nevada to a remarkable season in 2015. The Wolf Pack posted a 41-15 overall record and won the athletics department’s first-ever Mountain West title with a 22-6 league record. Nevada’s 41 wins ranked second in program history.
