Reno Aces nab 2 All-PCL selections
Reno Aces Jamie Romak and Peter O’Brien have been named to the All-PCL Team, the Pacific Coast League announced Monday.
The Aces join the El Paso Chihuahuas as the only two teams in the PCL to have two players named to the team.
Romak, 29, was selected to the team as the designated hitter. In 122 games, Romak is hitting .285 (129-for-452) with 95 RBIs, 81 runs scored, 40 doubles, 25 home runs and three triples. He is among PCL leaders in total bases (250, first), home runs (second), doubles (tied for second), RBI (third), slugging percentage (.553, third), RBI (fourth), walks (60, tied for fifth), OPS (.922, fifth) and hits (T-10th).
The Diamondbacks selected Romak’s contract on Aug. 8. He appeared in six games with the D-backs and hit .300 (3-for-10) with one RBI and one double. He was optioned back to Reno on Aug. 17.
O’Brien, 25, was selected to the team as an outfielder. In 122 games, he’s hitting .285 (129-for-456) with 96 RBIs, 73 runs scored, 30 doubles, 24 home runs and seven triples. It’s the fourth time in seven years the Aces have had multiple representatives on the All-PCL Team. In 2011, Cody Ransom and Collin Cowgill were named to the team. Jake Elmore, Ryan Wheeler and Adam Eaton were placed on the team in 2012. Last year, Andy Marte and Nick Ahmed were honored on the All-PCL Team.
Romak and O’Brien were named midseason PCL All-Stars and represented the Aces in Omaha, Nebraska. The pair also participated in the Triple-A Home Run Derby where O’Brien was the runner-up.
