Advance tickets are for sale and can be mailed, placed at “Will Call” or picked up at the convention center.
Fight cards are fluid and ever-changing.
The sixth annual Fallon Fights is no different. On Monday, Reno light-heavyweight Carlos Gaytan (3-1-1, 3 knockouts) was added to the card, according to a press release from Let’s Get It On Promotions.
He will battle Mexico’s Hector Hernandex (10-6-2, 4KOs) in a six-round bout on Saturday at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the action begins at 7 p.m.
In addition to professional boxing, amateur mixed-martial arts and Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame President Rich Marotta will be part of the show.
The first annual NVBHOF was held Aug. 10 in Las Vegas and included Mike Tyson and boxing referee legend Mills Lane.
Lane’s sons, Terry and Tommy, own Let’s Get It On Promotions, which handles the card for the Fallon Fights.
Marotta, meanwhile, will provide awards to the victorious boxers, and will select a “Boxer of the Night” for the fighter who displays an excellent showing.
As for the rest of the boxing card, undefeated heavyweight prospect Ytalo Perea (4-0, 3 KOs), a member of the 2012 Ecudorian Olympic team, takes on Avery Gibson (2-2-2. 1 KO).
Rising flyweight star and Reno native Oscar Vasquez (4-1) faces off against Alejandro Solorio (4-7, 3 Kos) of Los Angeles and Carson City welterweight Justin Benitez makes his pro debut against Jimmy Jones (0-1) of Las Vegas.
The amateur MMA portion of the show, meanwhile, features six Fallon fighters as of Monday, although the card is subject to change. All MMA bouts are three rounds.
Fallon’s Quentin Owens makes his debut against Dan Lewis of Redding, Calif., in a heavyweight bout. Middleweight Casey Diaz battles Tim Nunes in an all-Fallon bout.
Robert Smith (Fallon) matches up against Michael Sandage (Colusa, Calif.) in a light-heavyweight match, while middleweights Cody Downs (Fallon) and Gio Mackay (Gardnerville) square off.
Lightweight Wes Fletcher (Fallon) still does not have an opponent, but a possible fight is in the works.
