Another Fallon athlete earned All-State honors.
Senior volleyball player Mary Scholz was tabbed to the Division I-A second team after she led the Lady Wave in kills this season. She was also named to the first-team All-North as a utility player, while teammate Ali Tedford was named to the All-North second team. Megan McCormick was named to the honorable mention team.
Dayton’s Madi Foley, who will play at the University of Nevada next season, was named the league’s Most Valuable Player, while Sparks coach Tarina Martinez was tabbed Coach of the Year.
Fallon finished the season with a 14-13 overall record, 6-9 in the Northern DI-A and missed the postseason.
Scholz, who is a middle/outside hitter led the Lady Wave with 108 kills, had 11 aces and 20 digs.
Tedford juggled between setting and outside hitting and was Fallon’s most effective hitter. She posted a 42.2 percent kill percentage and had 79 for the season. Tedford also had 11 aces, 12 total blocks, 34 digs and 191 assists.
McCormick led Fallon with 17 aces and 32 total blocks and tallied 38 kills and 16 digs.
Also on the first-team All-North were Lowry’s Juliana Velasco, Elko’s Kelsie Galey, Truckee’s Mackenzie Redner and Dayton’s Jessie Coons and Taryn Schriner.
Foley, Coons and Reamer were named to first-team All-State. Second-team All-State includes Velasco, Schriener and Gailey.
The second-team All-North consists of Josalynn Harris and Desirea Danner (Elko), Kendyle Delacore (South Tahoe), Lauren Peek and Chelsea Mohan (Truckee) and Ashley Vickers (Dayton) and Fernley’s Kelsie Callahan.
The honorable mention team includes Lowry’s Rachel Sigurdson and Ereanna Higbee, Spring Creek’s Kaylee Snow and McKinley Nevins, Sparks’ Nina Cudra and South Tahoe’s Raquell Marchessan.
